Net Energy Metering Incentive

All solar customers will be enrolled in EBCE’s Net Energy Metering (NEM) rate, which is substantially similar to PG&E’s NEM rate. EBCE provides an additional incentive to low income and municipal customers who have installed a solar system after 6/1/18 (full retail credit plus $0.01/kilowatt-hour (kWh) for every solar kWh exported to the grid).

Government Innovation Grant

The Government Innovation Grant provides financial support to EBCE’s municipal partners for energy and climate programs that benefit our communities through reducing energy costs, increasing participation in EBCE’s programs, or reducing environmental and social impacts of energy. The applicant must be a City employee on EBCE’s Technical Advisory Group (TAG). In response to COVID-19, EBCE is putting a hold on the issuance of Government Innovation grants at this time.

Energy Efficiency Data

EBCE has invested in a powerful database that enables administrators and implementers of energy efficiency, demand response, and energy management programs to access information that increases building upgrades in Alameda County. This data is also valuable to EBCE’s local government partners who are developing greenhouse gas inventories.

Solar+Storage on Critical Facilities

EBCE is leading a grant-funded project to assess solar and battery energy storage options to increase resilience in times of emergency. Working with Peninsula Clean Energy, critical municipal facilities are being inventoried throughout Alameda and San Mateo counties. EBCE plans to size solar + storage systems to meet critical loads at priority facilities, and will evaluate options for broad scale project deployment with stakeholders.
